Given the exponential growth of aluminum in AM, the Aluminum Association is introducing its new Aluminum Alloy Designations and Chemical Composition Limits for Additive Manufacturing (AM) and Powder Metallurgy (PM) Feedstock and Products, otherwise known as the Purple Sheets, which will be published later this year. This article presents an overview of the new designation system and how it fits in with the Association's existing Rainbow Sheets.
