•    Description:  Asymmetric rolling is a process in which the circumferential velocities of work rolls are different, thereby imposing shear deformation and in turn shear deformation textures to sheet through the thickness. Asymmetric rolling is known to take place due to differences in the circumferential velocities of work rolls caused by lubrication mismatch, different angular roll speeds, or different roll diameters. The asymmetric rolling process has advantages such as less rolling pressure distribution, less rolling force, less rolling torque, and the ability to roll metals to very thin thicknesses with high rolling precision. Texture, plastic strain ratio, and limiting draw ratio from asymmetric rolling of aluminum are described within this article.
