•    Description:  Detroit, MI-based Lightweight Innovations for Tomorrow (LIFT) is operated by the American Lightweight Materials Manufacturing Innovation Institute (ALMMII), one of the founding institutes collectively known as Manufacturing USA. LIFT’s ongoing mission is twofold: to develop and deploy advanced lightweight metal manufacturing technologies, and to educate and train the U.S. advanced manufacturing workforce today and for the future. This article looks at LIFT's overall goals, its development of technologies for advanced aluminum manufacturing, and its aim to support advanced manufacturing jobs in the light metals industries.
