• Description: The technologies and materials used in the design and construction of seagoing vessels are constantly evolving and being improved. This paper presents the results of a comparative analysis of mechanical properties and cost of the new alloys for deformed semi-finished products used for marine applications. The main advantages of these new aluminum alloys are their high level of mechanical properties in both annealed and cold-worked conditions, excellent welded joints, high corrosion resistance, and the relatively low price of the semi-finished product. The alloy is offered for sheet, plate, extrusions, and other forms as an alternative to 5083-type alloys.
