•    Description:  The manufacturing of semi-finished magnesium components using a continuous process such as twin roll casting (TRC) has substantial advantages compared to conventional multistep processes involving melting, ingot casting, homogenization, milling, multiple heating, hot rolling, warm rolling, cold rolling, and final annealing. There is an interest, therefore, in TRC as a technology taking advantage of the best features of both fundamental processes: casting and rolling. In general, TRC reduces processing steps and makes strip processing more economical, especially for alloys with poor deformability, and can directly manufacture strips with a thickness of less than 1 or 2 mm. This report describes present activities aimed at expanding the capabilities of TRC to manufacture strips of magnesium alloys.
