•    Description:   With aluminum being increasingly used in automotive, particularly in electric vehicles, the efficiency and performance parameters of the grain refiner become ever more important. In particular, when casting aluminum for automotive, it's necessary to bring down harmful particles in the aluminum melt by up to 85%. This supports the production of high stress components, such as battery boxes used in electric vehicles, which require high strength levels. In such cases, zirconium will be added to the alloy composition, which produces a poisoning effect that can compromise the performance of standard grain refiners. This article presents a new grain refiner development that has been developed to address these challenges.
