Summary:U.S. and Canadian extrusion production went up between January and May 2010 by some 14% from the same period in 2009. However, due to this increase in product demand, as well as historical factors, some extruders are faced with a shortage of aluminum billet, particularly 6xxx series. This article looks at the reasons behind this shortage and notes the reactions of some billet suppliers and extruders.
