•    Description: This article focuses on copper clad aluminum (CCA) bimetallic composite conductors. They are composed of a copper sheath and an aluminum core, which combine the outstanding comprehensive properties of both metals, such as high electrical conductivity, good corrosion resistance, easy joint, as well as low cost and low density. The principles of a novel continuous casting composite process called horizontal corefilling continuous casting (HCFC), the continuous casting of CCA billet, and the basic manufacture method of CCA bus bars and flat wires using these CCA billets are described.
