As of October, these declarations will be mandatory for material producers and building product manufacturers seeking to contribute points to construction projects newly registered under the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program. In response, the Aluminum Extruders Council (AEC) recently launched a program to develop a pair of EPDs that will document the environmental performance of aluminum extrusions produced in the U.S. and Canada.
