In this article, a new process for continuously extruding magnesium alloy profiles from alloy chips is introduced for the first time. Utilizing shearing of semi-solid slurry rod, bar, and tube profiles were extruded from AZ91D with surface finishes similar to profiles extruded by conventional means.
