•    Description:  Magnesium is one of the lightest structural metals in the world and has been receiving a great deal of attention of late with the increased penetration of light metals into the automotive sector (due to CAFE standards in the U.S. and similar initiatives in other countries). Seeing an opportunity in this growth, Esan Eczacibasi launched a magnesium metal production facility in Eskisehir, Turkey, which started up the first phase of operation in 2015 with an initial capacity of 15,000 tpy. This article provides an overview of the project and the new magnesium production facility.
