• Description: On June 9-11, 2013, some 33 representatives from aluminum companies, research institutions, universities, and other associations from eight countries assembled in Trondheim, Norway, for the Second International Aluminum Recycling Workshop. The workshop was organized by SINTEF, the Research Council of Norway, and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and was sponsored by Alcoa, Hydro, and Sapa. This article presents the goals of the workshop and reveals the issues and discussions involving the collection and sorting of aluminum scrap, melting and refining, treatment of dross and salt cake, and uses of scrap and its alloy development that resulted from the discussion sessions.
