• Description: Since the 1940s, aluminum bridge decks have proven to be long lasting with minimal maintenance requirements due to the material's high resistance to atmospheric corrosion. In order to offer a complete solution for the future use of aluminum decking, it is necessary to design a traffic barrier for this type of bridge. This article briefly presents the methodology used to design a system of attachment between an already crash-tested traffic barrier and an aluminum decking.
