Summary:
A continuation of the authors' December 2005 article in LMA, in which the motivation for profile control was discussed along with the physical phenomena which require modeling and the instrumentation and actuation of existing generation profile control. In this new article the authors continue the discussion, describing the physical phenomena at work. Their new insights force the authors into an elevation of the importance of previously neglected phenomena and result in an improved ability to predict strip profile development and flatness behavior in the hot mill.
