• Description: Aluminum smelter potline currents have significantly increased from the 250-350 kA range reported for the highest amperage cells operating in 2007. Currently there are four different super-high (world’s largest) amperage cell technologies operating at 550-660 kA in the worldwide aluminum industry. This article presents an overview of these high amperage cell technologies, including SY-660 from SAMI, NEUI-600 from NEUI, AP-60 from Rio Tinto, and RA-550 from UC Rusal.
