Description: This New Equipment Spotlight covers the Contur Projector, from DII/Ascona in North Carolina, which uses software optics to measure extrusion profile samples. Indalex, Inc. in Burlington, NC is currently testing the Contur Projector. It is intended to be set up at the press operator work station at the out feed of a press, integrated into an extrusion operation. The first trial study of the system was June 2002 at the Aluminiumweke Wutoschingen extrusion plant in Germany, and results showed outstanding performance characteristics. DII/Ascona of High Point, NC is responsible for sales, distribution, engineering, development, installation and support for the Contur Projector system and software. The European headquarters of the company is located in Meckenbeuren, Germany. Harold Harper, quality manager at Indalex in Burlington said, "...this latest development in profile measurement technology far exceeds any other measurement system of its type in the world."
